The Joy of Old-School Living in a Changing World

There was a time when I was old school at that time there was only one favourite person in my life it was me I always loved spending with myself at those time major spend time with myself and that’s what used to bring me the most happiness.

Still, when I look back, I find that some parts of the old me are still there.:

  • For some reason loud music does not make sense to me
  • I love to watch that movie over again rather than watch that new movie that everyone is talking about
  • I would rather read a book instead of going on weekends
  • I would rather Put the phone down and spend some time in nature
  • I like wearing those old clothes rather than trying those new trends

I just love simplicity but sometimes I think I’m just a boring person and each one of them is so cool, but to only end up with the realization we’re just constantly trying to fit in the society so we can be part of that cool club

So here 4 things only an old school can relate to:

1) You loves Slow living

“It is only when we slow down that we can finally see things clearly.” — Haemin Sunim

With little time, we are in the 3rd quarter of 2024 still there are a lot of things that can be completed from my vision board.

I was so busy throughout the year I just forgot to live in the present.

  • I get so caught up in chasing big goals that I forget to slow down and celebrate the small wins along the way
  • I forget to say thanks to the people who mean the most to me
  • I hardly took the time for solo dates anymore

Looking back, in time I just regret not slowing down.

Slow living reminds us to prioritize what truly matters at our own pace, rather than rushing to do more in less time.

2 )You Prioritize values while making any decisions

Every problem you face is usually temporary, but these short-lived issues can cause immediate pain. Often, we let this pain affect our choices and actions.

  • Whether it was your younger self in your 20s, or trying 10 things to figure out what worked best for your career.
  • a copywriter who always felt confused when writing for the brand
  • or a solo pressure who offers 10s of things on offer

Those all problems just because these people do not have their core values

You can fix your problems if you let your values drive your choices

here’s the list of our core values from James Clear‘s blog.

3) You Appreciate the little things in your life

Appreciate the little things, because one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.” — Kurt Vonnegut

I have always loved appreciating the little things in my life that may not be that important but it bring me happiness through the simple act of “enjoying the little moments in the life”.

here is my list of little things that I enjoy:

  • Writing a blog for a medium
  • Going on a solo date
  • Listing to music

Sometimes, we get so busy with our routine that we tend to forget to appreciate those small moments that matter.

4) You do things that you love to do

“Doing what you like is freedom. Liking what you do is happiness.” — Frank Tyger

I still remember it was 2023 when I first watched Steve Jobs’s speech at Stanford in 2005 on YouTube

“From there, I got to know him and learned that he never settled for less. Even when he joined his dream college, he dropped out within six months simply because he did not see any value there. Later, he found the course that he was looking for at Reed College, which at that time offered perhaps the best calligraphy instruction in the country

“You’ve got to find what you love. And that is as true for your work as it is for your lovers. Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. Don’t settle…

Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”― Steve Jobs

Sometimes, things don’t work out for us, and that’s a sign that we just need to keep looking for what makes us happy.

See? Being old school comes with so many perks; we are just the happiest people ever!
